Moving!

Hello readers,

I wanted to inform you that I will be moving my blog to Wordpress, which will now be known as Diane Kim's Book Blog. I wanted a change, and a different platform did just that. I will be importing my previous posts onto my new blog, and will edit them to look nice with the new format. So some of the posts will look wonky since I will be in the process of tweaking them one at a time.

After a few years of using Blogger, I hope to embark on a new and more exciting journey of active blogging about books on my new blog. I hope to see you there!

Diane

Review: Gilt Hollow by Lorie Langdon

Gilt Hollow

Goodreads | Amazon

Willow Lamott’s best friend is a murderer, and no one in the small town of Gilt Hollow will let her forget it. For four long years, she’s tried to fade into the background—but none of that matters when Ashton Keller comes striding into school, fresh out of juvie and fueled by revenge. The moment their eyes meet, Willow no longer feels invisible. Drawn to the vulnerability behind Ashton’s mask of rage, she sinks deeper into his sinister world and begins to question whether he’s a villain, a savior, or both.
Ashton thought he wanted vengeance, until Willow reminded him what he’d been missing. Now he longs to clear his name and become the person she sees in him. But the closer they get to uncovering the truth, the darker the secrets become, and Ashton fears his return to Gilt Hollow will destroy everyone he loves, especially the girl he left behind.

My Thoughts

Gilt Hollow is set in a small town and tells the story about Willow and her best friend Ashton, who was convicted of a crime that he did not do. When he comes back to Gilt Hollow after being released from 4 years of juvie, the past comes back to the present, and Wil and Ash find their way back to each other and try to solve the mystery as more secrets surface.

I absolutely adored reading this one. It has mystery, suspense, just the right amount of romance in between, and the small town atmosphere that only makes a mystery story better. I thought the mystery was well written out in terms of suspense. When the actual mystery was solved, I was expecting it to be something bigger. In the end, the mystery was the kind where one thing led to another and it became a bigger thing than it actually needed to be.

I really liked Ms. Langdon's style of writing. She adds enough detail to the descriptions to let the readers picture the scene perfectly. The dialogues were also realistically well written.

The overall message, in my opinion, was well delivered. The book told a story about forgiveness, despite whatever happened in the past. It showed that not everyone is who they seem, and love can conquer just about anything.

All in all, I really enjoyed reading Gilt Hollow and would definitely read it again. I would recommend this book to romance/mystery/YA novel lovers, and anyone who would give a time of their day to read a good book.
